Built a PC for my parents, but an activation message appeared, what should I do?
A few days ago I put together a simple desktop for my parents so they could browse the internet and make video calls, I bought the parts second-hand, I installed the system and set everything up, but a couple of days later my mom called and said some semi transparent message appeared in the corner of the screen and it’s distracting when she watches movies. I tried connecting through remote access to change the theme or remove the text, but it says personalization is locked, I don’t see the point in buying a license that costs about half the price of the whole PC, Is there any simple way to quickly unlock the interface customization so nothing bothers them?

With budget builds this message is a pretty common headache. I ran into the same thing after upgrading hardware in an old family PC — once components change, the system sometimes stops recognizing the previous setup and some personalization options get limited. After trying a few different fixes and digging through forums, I eventually came across kmspico, which many people mention as a simple utility that helps the system re-check its status locally. After running it, the desktop watermark was gone and the locked customization settings became available again, so the computer finally felt normal to use. 👍
