【Tokyo】Event Staff for English Japanese Language Exchange in Shibuya

WelcomeTokyo is seeking on-site event staff to connect foreign and Japanese participants at our International Exchange Community Events, specifically our English Language Exchange gatherings!

Want to work primarily in English, utilizing your Japanese skills, and gain a "mini-study abroad" experience without leaving Japan? This is the perfect environment for anyone passionate about improving their English, honing management skills, and building an international network right here in Tokyo.

💼 What You'll Do: English Language Exchange Event Staff

  • Simple venue setup

  • Reception and customer service in English and Japanese

  • Facilitating participant matching and conversation support

  • Assisting with photography and social media outreach

  • Creating and submitting event reports

  • Online tasks (30 minutes to 1 hour, paid separately)


🗓 Work Schedule

Fixed-day shifts (2+ days per week)

  • Mondays: 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM (on-site) + online tasks (30 minutes - 1 hour)

  • Saturdays & Sundays: 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM (on-site) + online tasks (30 minutes - 1 hour)

Additionally, we can offer shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, or daytime shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, depending on your availability.

📌 Your work days will be fixed. We require a commitment of at least 2 days per week.

🔁 If you need time off, you can swap shifts with other staff members. With advance coordination, we can also be flexible with long vacations.



📍 Work Location

Shibuya, Tokyo (near Shibuya Station, within walking distance) If you're interested in international exchange and English conversation, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in the heart of Shibuya! Our location offers excellent access, allowing you to deepen your interaction with foreigners and enhance your skills. Being within walking distance of Shibuya Station makes your commute incredibly convenient.



💰 Salary & Benefits

  • Hourly Wage: ¥1,400 - ¥2,000 (with performance reviews 3 times a year)

  • Incentives available

  • Commuting Allowance: ¥500/day

🧑‍💼 Requirements & Preferred Skills

  • Ability to commit for at least 1 year (please state your expected end date in dd/mm/yyyy format)

    • If applying with a Working Holiday Visa, you must have at least 10 months remaining on your visa.

  • Ability to work fixed shifts 2+ days per week year-round.

  • High school students, side-job seekers, and beginners welcome!

  • JLPT N4 or higher is welcome (Please submit your test results with your application.)

  • Study abroad experience / Currently learning English / TOEIC around 700 points welcome (Not required)

❌ Important Rules During Work

  • Cannot be affiliated with other international exchange events/organizations.

  • Exchanging contact information with event participants or partners is prohibited.

  • Alcohol consumption during work hours is prohibited.

  • Preferred dates for a ZOOM interview (1 hour before/after the trial, 5:00 PM or 11:00 PM / or by 5:00 PM the next day) ZOOM link will be sent 10 minutes before the interview.

  • Last day of your guaranteed work period (in dd/mm/yyyy format)

  • Days of the week you are available to work year-round (2+ days per week)

  • JLPT N4 test results (if applicable)

💼 Your Day-to-Day: A Walkthrough

WelcomeTokyo events consistently attract many international and Japanese participants. Your smile and thoughtful attention will be key to making each event a success! 🌏✨

🏠 ① Venue Setup

Before the event starts, you'll prepare tables, chairs, name tags, and more. Don't worry, we have a clear procedure! You'll set the mood with music and lighting, creating a space where participants feel excited for a fun time.

Greet participants with a smile while checking their reservations on the WelcomeJapan app! Confirm names, provide guidance, and gently engage with anyone who seems nervous to help them relax.

🎤③ MC & Event Facilitation

You'll explain the event flow, announce pair changes, and introduce conversation topics at the appropriate times. Your clear communication will help participants naturally start conversations!

👥④ Engaging with & Supporting Guests

Since many participants are meeting for the first time, a little ice-breaking and cheering them on is important. Sometimes you'll step in to translate or offer support to those who are shy.

📸⑤ Photography (for SNS) + Guest Interaction

You'll use your smartphone to capture event moments 📷. While taking photos, it's also important to naturally chat with guests and build rapport. You'll send photos and videos for social media to headquarters, constantly improving your photography skills!

After the event, you'll bid farewell to participants with a "Thank you!" You'll also check for forgotten items and ensure everyone leaves feeling positive about the experience.

🧼⑦ Cleanup & Venue Tidy-Up

You'll help with simple cleanup tasks like returning tables to their original positions and collecting trash. This is when you'll feel the satisfaction of a successful event!

🏠⓼ Head Home! + Online Reporting (Paid Work)

After returning home, there are simple online tasks (30-60 minutes). Event reports, photo data submission, and communication with headquarters are all handled through our proprietary communication app. All can be done on your smartphone!

📲 All Work Communication Handled via Our Proprietary App!

Customer inquiries are primarily received through the WelcomeJapan app. You'll respond using templates or escalate to headquarters as needed. 💡No phone calls with customers are required. You can handle tasks on your smartphone during your free time, making it easy to start even if you're new to this kind of work!
